Why is AGE a trait?
Jellocats have distinct age stages, each shaping their abilities, behaviour, and role in Jello society. From playful Younglings to wise Elders and legendary Mythic Jellocats, these stages highlight their growth and magic. Each age stage reflects unique traits and increasing powers, with the oldest Jellocats holding deep knowledge and mystical abilities essential to life on Jello Island. Choose in what stage you want your cat to be in and decide what role it plays on Jello Island and for the Society!

-
Younglings (0-2 years):
The playful, curious, and clumsy Younglings are full of energy and are just beginning to explore their abilities. They rely on guidance from older Jellocats and learn how to maintain their jello bodies by consuming jello and sugar water. While clumsy, they’re born with features like claws or teeth (if inherited), though these are often underdeveloped. Jelloguts in this stage may not yet produce acidic defenses, but they do exhibit odd behaviors hinting at their later traits. Spirits of the land watch over these Younglings, protecting their innocence. -
ADVENTURERS (3-20 years):
In this stage, Jellocats develop a sense of independence and adventure, travelling Jello Island to find their place. Adventurers are often in groups, and their personalities begin to emerge strongly, marking their identities within Jello society. Jelloguts begin showing their full traits, including defensive acids, which make them intimidating even to other Jellocats. Adventurers may form friendships, learn from experienced Jellocats, and interact with nearby humans, establishing initial bonds if they feel safe. This is the stage where Jellocats and Jelloguts develop key instincts, with Jello Island serving as their training ground for future wisdom. -
SETTLERS (21-499 years):
Settlers are established, skilled, and knowledgeable. Jellocats and Jelloguts of this age have honed their unique skills and often settle into specific roles on Jello Island, like protectors, guides, or scouts. They may mentor younger cats, study jello-based magic, and deepen their attachment to Jello Island. Settlers are also more resilient, and capable of defending themselves and adapting to environmental changes. Jelloguts in this stage embrace their defensive traits fully, while Ancients may share knowledge with Jellocats, preparing them for further development. Some Settlers may seek out human companions, but they are more selective and cautious due to their increased understanding of the risks involved. -
ELDERS (500-999 years):
Elders are deeply respected in Jellocat society, their experience and knowledge covering both magic and history. They often advise younger Jellocats on matters of tradition and power, and some have mystical abilities like telepathy or rare elemental skills. Elder Jelloguts are more reserved and meditative, aware of their darker traits and potential danger. Ancient Jellocats at this stage have extensive knowledge of the island’s lore and hidden realms, and they typically act as guardians of sacred sites. Elders often reside in special areas of Jello Island, where they study the land’s magic. Humans lucky enough to encounter an Elder Jellocat gain valuable wisdom but must respect their need for solitude and ritual. Their connection is very strong if formed. -
MYTHS (1,000+ years):
Mythic Jellocats, Jelloguts, and Ancients are extraordinarily powerful and rarely seen. These legendary beings are tied to the island’s deepest secrets, appearing in rare, sacred locations. Their powers can reshape the environment, influence weather, and protect the land from external threats. They are revered figures, representing the crown of Jellocat wisdom and strength. Mythic Jelloguts embody both majesty and danger, channelling potent magic to defend themselves and others. Human encounters with these beings are rare and often considered life-changing events, as Myths can impart abilities, blessings, or cryptic messages before retreating into seclusion. -
Eternal
Holy Jello Spirits transcend physical form, existing as ethereal presences across Jello Island. Representing the essence of life and history, they protect the island and its inhabitants by maintaining the mystical balance. Spirits interact with the living through dreams, visions, or gentle guidance, serving as spiritual mentors or guides. These eternal beings are deeply connected to the island’s origins and often intervene during times of crisis, offering wisdom or magical support to those who call upon them. Some believe these spirits are the original Ancients who transcended physicality, becoming one with the island to forever guide and protect the Jellocat species and all who dwell on Jello Island.
