Noctyra, the Abyssal Jellocat

Noctyra is a mythical and fearsome Jellocat of legend, revered and feared as the ruler of the abyssal depths. Her form is enigmatic, cloaked in swirling, dark fog that seems to absorb the very light around her. Her body glows with an eerie, pale orange light that pierces through the darkness, and jagged crystals shimmer faintly along her back. Noctyra is said to dwell in the Unknown Regions, in the deepest trenches of the sea, where no light dares to reach. Her presence embodies mystery, fear, and the balance between chaos and order, for she is both a guardian of secrets and a harbinger of destruction.

Noctyra is calm and deliberate, speaking only in whispers carried on water currents. It is believed she watches over the boundaries between Jello Island and the unfathomable void beyond, keeping creatures of chaos at bay. However, her temper is cold and vengeful, and those who disrespect the abyss or exploit it for their gain may face her wrath in the form of crashing waves, whirlpools, or sudden darkness that consumes all.

The Abyssals

The Abyssals are the faction of Jellocats who have pledged themselves to Noctyra, the Abyssal Jellocat Spirit. Dwelling in the Unknown Regions, far beneath the ocean’s surface, these Jellocats embrace the mysteries of the deep, where light fades, and silence reigns. The Abyssals are drawn to the dark beauty of the abyss, where Noctyra resides, and are often seen as enigmatic, secretive, and otherworldly.

Beliefs and Practices

Abyssals revere Noctyra as the guardian of the unseen and the keeper of ancient, forgotten truths. To them, the abyss symbolizes the unknown within and without—a place of endless possibility, hidden power, and quiet strength. They believe that true understanding can only come when one learns to embrace darkness and listen to the silence.

Abyssals offer glowing Jello crystals, rare luminescent plants, and bioluminescent treasures to honor Noctyra. These offerings are laid at the trench openings and deep sea vents said to lead to her lair. The glow of these gifts is believed to guide Noctyra’s favor and keep her calm amidst the shadows.

Life in the Unknown Regions

The Unknown Regions are a vast, uncharted expanse of the sea where sunlight cannot reach. The waters are heavy, cold, and filled with towering spires of coral, glowing vents, and caverns that stretch endlessly into the earth. It is a realm of silence, broken only by the hum of unseen creatures and the soft glow of bioluminescence. Jellocats outside the Abyssal faction speak of the Unknown Regions with awe and fear, describing it as a place of both beauty and dread. It is said that those who enter without respect for Noctyra may lose themselves forever to the crushing black.
